Parking at the CKC Track
Due to ongoing queries and confusion on the parking situation at Camberley Kart Club, please see the attached map providing a clear picture of where you can park on a race day/practice day. The only difference between race day and practice day is that there are no reserved parking bays on a practice day. They are on a “first come first served basis”.

Ace and King of Clubs Race Meeting
Wednesday, September 1st, 2010Camberley Kart Club comes 7th in the Ace & King of clubs race meeting at Whilton Mill !
For those of you that have driven on the Whilton Mill circuit you’ll know that it’s a challenging track at the best of times. The flat out left hander at the end of the start/finish straight, the hairpin that will destroy your kart if you run wide onto the raised outside kerb or the tight right hander before the flat out right hander(if you’re brave enough) onto the start / finish straight.
Race day: The weather was forecast to be bad but held off long enough for the 3 lap practice session and the first two heats. Following that though the clouds flew in, the wind became a gale and the rain free flowed for a good 30 – 45 minutes meaning that most of the pre-finals were declared wet races. This provided lots of entertainment for those onlookers who watched those racers who were a little quick into the corners continuing in a straight line rather than making the turn, or those that spun round from oversteer. Also fun to watch was the mahem at the first corner at the end of the straight where everyone fought to gain some positions and charge up the hill better than their starting grid positions.
Finally the wind died down and the sun came out to play. The track quickly dried out and it was clear that the finals would be run on slicks and would really put the CKC racers to the test. The finals came and went with the valiant effort of our racers being applauded by the spectators. (all the race results from the day are available on the Whilton Mill website).
This was a difficult track, tough conditions and clearly a track that rewarded those that have had the time to put in the practice laps, however our Camberley Kart Club representatives have done us proud. A 7th place result out of twelve clubs is a worthy result. Congratulations to all those who raced and represented the club so well.
Mike Carr also wishes to pass on his congratulations to all those who took part and raced for all they’re worth to bring home a 7th place position. Well done!
Final words… …For those that aren’t aware, Mike Carr was instrumental in organising CKC’s entry into this race meeting and thanks must go to him for all the work and effort that he put in behind the scenes and on the day. Without this we wouldn’t have been there. Thanks Mike.
